VSA Applauds Selection of Brian Moran for Secretary of Public Safety
RICHMOND – The Virginia Sheriffs’ Association applauds Governor-Elect Terry McAuliffe’s appointment today of former Delegate Brian Moran as the Secretary of Public Safety for the Commonwealth. Mr. Moran has demonstrated his knowledge and support for the law enforcement profession and for public safety in Virginia. As a former legislator, he has first-hand knowledge of many of the complex issues that relate to keeping Virginians safe.
Fluvanna County Sheriff Ryant Washington, chairman of the Virginia Sheriffs’ Association’s legislative committee, said, “Brian brings the experience and expertise as a former prosecutor and member of the General Assembly to the table to work with all facets of the legislative branch to get things done.”
Bristol Sheriff Jack Weisenburger, President of the Virginia Sheriffs’ Association, also indicated his support for the appointment today. “Brian was recognized by the Virginia Sheriffs’ Association in 2006 as the ‘Legislator of the Year.’ That coveted recognition speaks volumes for his support for Sheriffs across Virginia.” Weisenburger added, “Members of the Virginia Sheriffs’ Association support the appointment and look forward to welcoming him to the public safety team in Virginia.”
