Richmond City patchDuring a routine search of a prisoner, City of Richmond sheriff’s deputies discovered both heroin and cocaine concealed in a man’s clothing. The incident occurred Monday, March 31, 2014, at the Richmond City Jail. The inmate, Randolph George Cokes, Jr., 48, was initially arrested by Richmond Police charged with possession of marijuana. Upon his commitment to the jail, deputies performing a routine search discovered what appeared to be additional drugs, concealed in the lining of his clothing. A field test was done of the substances, which tested positive for heroin and cocaine. Cokes was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drugs by a prisoner. “Mr. Cokes has been in and out of Richmond City Jail for years on drug-related charges,” said Richmond Sheriff C.T. Woody, Jr. “It is my hope that maybe this time, he will seek out some help from a counselor, or volunteer to participate in one of our recovery programs.”
