Richmond City Sheriff C.T. Woody recently accepted a Certificate of Appreciation from the Two Rivers Chapter of the American Legion Riders. This certificate was presented in appreciation of the support and assistance Sheriff Woody provided the American Legion Riders during their 7th Annual Ride for Wounded Warriors for the Virginia Veterans and Family Support Program under the auspices of the Virginia Department of Veterans Services.
“We were honored to support the American Legion Riders by providing an escort for them to McGuire Veterans Medical Center,” said Sheriff Woody. “As a veteran myself, it is important that the work these men and women do on behalf of wounded veterans and their families receives the attention and support it deserves.”
The American Legion currently has thousands of chapters all over the United States. They function as a veteran’s awareness, information, and support organization for military service members of all branches. The Legion Riders routinely escort military unit’s returning home from combat tours, conduct massive cross-country fundraising events for wounded warriors, and raise money for thousands of local, state, and federal charities. The Legion Riders are an extension of the American Legion, a group chartered and incorporated by the United States Congress in 1919 as a veterans group dedicated to mutual assistance.
