On March 11, Sheriff Roberts welcomed 17 ministers from the Hampton Ministers Coalition and Vicinity for a luncheon, tour and presentation of his office’s ‘Ready, Set, Go!’ (RSG) re-entry program. Sheriff Roberts provided the group a preview of the RSG model, which takes an innovative approach to addressing the recidivism problem. The sheriff’s vision is to operate an integrated re-entry system from admission to release and community supervision at the Hampton Community Corrections Center. In partnering with the faith-based community, this becomes an opportunity to hear from them as they determine their involvement with inmates’ pre and post release. Returning citizens must continue to receive the community support upon re-entering society.
