Roanoke County Sheriff’s Office holds a promotion, retirement ceremony

Sheriff Eric Orange recently held a reception to acknowledge and show appreciation for the hard work and dedication of newly promoted deputies as well as recognizing the retirement of another. On December 8, Deputy Kevin Shelton was recognized for his 23 years of dedicated service upon his retirement on December 15. The Roanoke County Sheriff’s Office has a Career Development Program which allows deputies to meet certain goals and obtain the number of points needed to advance to the next level, up to Deputy Sheriff IV. Deputies Deanna Matherly and Jeb Wright were pinned with the DS III insignia. Deputies Neal Hutchison, Robert Ketchum, Stan McMillion, Mike Rector and Scott Young were pinned with the DS IV insignia. These deputies not only perform their assigned duties in a positive manner, they also contribute many hours to the Community Outreach programs.
