On January 16th, The Smith Mountain Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce collected and donated many stuffed animal toys to Deputy H. L. Nolen and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. Director, Vicki Gardner said, “We recognize the need of a comfort items during times when children are innocent victims of sadness and pain. We are happy to contribute to this worthy cause.” Many of the toys were donated by Sam Fansler, son of SMLRCC Employee, Andrea Fansler.

Sheriff Bill Overton commented on the generosity and compassion shown by all involved at the SML Chamber. He stated, “We are so honored to receive this wonderful gift and our officers will distribute these stuffed toys when we feel the comfort a stuffed toy would assist a child in need. Special thanks to young Sam Fansler for his heartfelt burden to assist these children, Director Vicki Gardner and all her great staff for being responsive to these particular need.”
