The Roanoke County Sheriff’s Office partnered with the Local Office on Aging (LOA) to assist with loading and delivering of bags filled with soups, crackers and other food items. On Friday, February 9 and again on Tuesday, February 13th members of the Sheriff’s Office went to a local church which was being used as a distribution point for the food. There they loaded over 1800 bags of food into many vehicles and then traveled throughout the Roanoke Valley and Alleghany Highlands stopping off at many locations to make the deliveries. Many smiles were on the faces of the deputies as they interacted with the recipients of the food. Sheriff Orange took a major role in this community outreach project and stated he was so gracious to have so many on his staff that felt the desire to help others.
