The Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Authority is seeking a Chief Law Enforcement Officer (CLEO). The Chief Law Enforcement Officer (CLEO) is a leadership position that provides strategic direction for Virginia ABC’s Bureau of Law Enforcement, which enforces Commonwealth laws related to the manufacture and sale of alcoholic beverages. This position works closely with the CEO and other chief officers to develop and execute the Authority’s Strategic Plan. The position is responsible for a staff comprised of 108 sworn officers and 30 civilian employees, located across the Authority’s nine regional offices, and an annual operating budget of $17.6 million. The Chief Law Enforcement Officer reports to the CEO. The position provides direct supervision to four direct reports.
Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, public administration, or a related field, five years of demonstrated experience in the direct management, supervision or control of law enforcement and\or related regulatory capacity, and specialized training in criminal investigation and management issues. Post-graduate degree and ten years of related experience preferred. DCJS law enforcement certification required.
The salary for this position is up to $110,000, depending upon the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate. Participation in the state benefits program and the Virginia Retirement System is provided. Relocation is negotiable.
