Richmond, VA — An Amherst County Deputy has been released from the hospital in good spirits following injuries sustained in a deputy-involved shooting Sunday afternoon.
According to the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office and WBDJ7.com, deputies responded to and engaged with the driver of a crashed vehicle. A responding deputy was shot and transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The driver, identified as Anthony Makai Hutchinson, 40, of Waynesboro, was shot and killed during the exchange.
The Virginia Sheriffs’ Association commends all involved for their bravery and sends its thoughts and prayers for the continued recovery for the injured Deputy.
