On December 21, 2018, members from the Prince William County Sheriff’s Office delivered 50 Christmas baskets to senior citizens at Birmingham Green in Manassas, VA.

Each year, in preparation for the holiday season, the Prince William County Sheriff’s Office collaborates with local community partners and businesses to prepare and deliver Christmas baskets to the less fortunate elders in the community.

Some of the contents included in the Christmas baskets are handmade quilts, pillow cases, hats, gloves, snacks, books, personal care items, etc.

According to Sheriff Glendell Hill, delivering baskets to the elderly brings him a lot of joy. Sheriff Hill stated, “It warms my heart to see how receptive they were to receive the gift baskets from the Sheriff’s Office.”

First Sergeant Angelo Meletis stated, “We love the community and we want to spread a little holiday joy whenever we can. We want the elders to know we care about them.”

Delivering Christmas baskets to the senior citizens would have not been possible without the time and generous donations of several community groups and businesses such as the Lisa House Sewing Group of Greenwich Presbyterian Church, Mary Gough and her team at Martha Early Sewing Circle, Women’s Committee of Prince William and Fairfax Farm Bureau, Virginia Arms and Sheriff’s Office staff.
