Virginia Sen. Stanley has filed a Budget Amendment calling for an adjustment to the base salaries of Virginia sheriffs and their deputies, his office announced Tuesday.
“There are a number of reasons for the need of an adjustment, the least of which are problems associated with high turnover of trained deputies who often leave the Sheriff departments for higher paying positions in non-law enforcement businesses,” the statement from Stanley’s office read.
