Sheriff’s Volunteer Appreciation Dinner

Sheriff B. J. Roberts shows his appreciation annually by hosting a volunteer appreciation dinner. Hampton Mayor, Donnie Tuck presented Sheriff Roberts with a proclamation in recognition of National Volunteer Week in April. In addition to dinner, the annual event includes entertainment and a guest speaker. Hildegarde Owens Richardson, a substance and violence abuse consultant and an adjunct professor of health, delivered a powerful message on volunteering to the dedicated audience of volunteers. Over 80 volunteers were recognized with gifts and certificates for the thousands of hours that they volunteer each year at the Hampton Correctional Facilities. The volunteers facilitate programs such as Self-Esteem, Bible Study, Anger Management and Basic Computers to name a few.
