WATCH FOR CHILDREN PLAYING

With our county schools dismissing for the summer, the Office of the Sheriff reminded everyone to be more alert for children playing outside. Kicking ball, on bicycles and so on, kids will be out playing near the streets. Be alert, so down and watch for children.

BOAT PATROL HAS BEGUN

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office has begun its 2023 Smith Mountain Lake Patrol. Now is the time to inspect your boat and have it “water ready” The graphic gives you a few tips to look for.

CELEBRATING MEMORIAL DAYThe Office of the Sheriff remembered the sacrifice, bravery and courage of our fallen armed services members during Memorial Day Weekend. We also encouraged our residents to not drink and drive.

STOP STEALING ROAD SIGNS

Our friends at the Virginia Department of Transportation has dealt with missing road signs recently. Our office brought this to the attention of our residents with information on how much it cost taxpayers to replace the signs.

JAKES EVENT WAS HELD

The Franklin County Longbeards / Jakes held their annual event recently at the Sontag Recreation Park. The Office of the Sheriff was there with our drone, bicycles, COPS volunteers and we registered the children to win a boys and girls bicycles. Other agencies and volunteers were on site as well and it made for a fantastic day.
