Chesterfield Sheriff meets with President Bill Clinton to discuss Chesterfield jail’s HARP recovery program

On June 21st, Chesterfield Sheriff Karl Leonard and Chesterfield Sheriff’s Office Program Director Bailey Hilliard had a 3-hour meeting with President Bill Clinton in his New York office upon request to brief him on the Chesterfield jail’s HARP recovery program.

President Clinton was seeking innovations in approaches to address the addiction and overdose crisis across America.  He wanted to direct focus of his Clinton Foundation toward this issue on a national level.

During the meeting, President Clinton voiced his frustration with the 109,000 overdose deaths that occurred in the United States in 2022 and shared his own story of his brother, Roger, who now has 6 years of being in recovery.

President Clinton closed the meeting by saying there was much work to do and looked forward to followup discussions.
