Sheriff Mike Chapman was awarded this year’s National Sheriff of the Year” award by the National Sheriffs’ Association at a ceremony during the annual conference in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Tuesday. Sheriffs from across the nation were on hand for this prestigious award. “Sheriff Chapman represents the best of America’s sheriffs and has gained the respect of his peers across the nation and here at home in Virginia. The Virginia Sheriffs’ Association is proud to call him a member and we appreciate his contribution to public safety and to office of sheriff,” said John W. Jones, Executive Director of the Virginia Sheriffs Association who was in attendance at Tuesdays ceremony along with a number of Virginia sheriffs.
