The Voice of Virginia’s Sheriffs & Deputies

The Petersburg Sheriff’s Office recognizes the continuous service of Charles Pyer, Jr., one of the longest serving auxiliary deputies at the Petersburg Sheriff’s Office. He served his country for 20 years on active duty in the United States Army and a flag with his picture is flying high on the Boulevard in Colonial Heights, where he resides, in his honor.

After retiring from the military with the rank of Sgt. First Class, he worked an additional 19 years as a civil servant with the federal government. Once retiring from civil service, he joined the Petersburg Sheriff’s Office as an auxiliary deputy, where he has served faithfully as a volunteer assisting with various community events and TRIAD for several years. Auxiliary Deputy Charles Pyer, we thank you for your service to your country, to our agency and to the community.
