The Virginia General Assembly recently passed a resolution commending Alexandria Deputy Carlos Cañas for his contributions to the Alexandria Sheriff’s Office and the Alexandria community and for being named the Virginia Law Enforcement Officer of the Year in 2024 by the American Legion Department of Virginia. Delegate Alfonso H. Lopez introduced House Joint Resolution 726, and the House and the Senate passed it the same week. The Resolution can be viewed HERE.
