King George County Sheriff Chris Giles and members of his staff recently attended the Annual Law Enforcement Memorial Service hosted by the Rappahannock Regional Criminal Justice Academy. The solemn ceremony paid tribute to 32 law enforcement officers from the region who lost their lives in the line of duty.
Among those honored was King George Sheriff’s Office Deputy Craig L. Brooks, who tragically died in a motor vehicle accident while on duty on May 15, 1998. Sheriff Giles and Deputy Brooks’ niece, Whitney Brooks, placed a flag on the memorial wreath in his memory.
Deputy Brooks’ service and sacrifice continue to be remembered. This Thursday, the King George County Sheriff’s Office will honor his legacy further with the dedication of a local bridge in his name.
“Our thoughts remain with the families and loved ones of all the officers remembered this week,” said Sheriff Giles. “They will never be forgotten.”
