On Thursday, May 30, 2025, the Officers Club at Fort Greg-Adams hosted the annual Southside Virginia Chambers of Commerce Awards Ceremony, an evening dedicated to recognizing outstanding contributions from local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and first responders across Petersburg, Colonial Heights, and Dinwiddie.
Among the night’s most distinguished honorees was Lieutenant Ricky Gordon of the Petersburg Sheriff’s Office, who was named Deputy of the Year for the City of Petersburg. Lt. Gordon was celebrated for his decades of dedicated service, unwavering leadership, and his exceptional role as Chief Bailiff and supervisor of the General District Court. In addition to his duties in the courtroom, he has also played a critical role in community outreach and is widely respected for his deep knowledge and professionalism.
Lt. Gordon accepted the award in the presence of his wife, the Honorable Sheriff Vanessa R. Crawford, and the Command Staff of the Petersburg Sheriff’s Office.
