The Sheriff Joe Baron Foundation and the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office were recently recognized as an UPLIFT Award Winner during the 2025 Norfolk Neighborhood Expo.
In 2017, the Sheriff Joe Baron Foundation was founded by Sheriff Joe Baron as a means for the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office to give back to the community we serve and provide year-round programs for citizens in Norfolk. With support through donations, funds raised through United Way campaigns, and grants, the Sheriff Joe Baron Foundation allows the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office to provide necessary items and programs to those who need it most in our community. The Foundation serves as main source of revenue for a large portion of the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office Community Outreach.
Here are some of the annual programs the Sheriff Joe Baron Foundation helps make possible:
- Three youth sports camps each year
- Two, one-week youth summer camps each year
- Annual Senior Fest event for senior citizens living in Norfolk
- Camp HOPE Norfolk
- School supply drives
- Winter coat drives
- Holiday (Christmas and Thanksgiving) turkey baskets
- Scholarships

Sheriff Baron was on-hand at the Neighborhood Expo to accept the UPLIFT Award on behalf of the Sheriff Joe Baron Foundation and the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office.
