The Voice of Virginia’s Sheriffs & Deputies

Sheriff Joe Baron, Colonel O’Toole, and members of the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office sworn staff recently attended the November 18th Norfolk City Council meeting to personally and publicly thank Norfolk’s Mayor Alexander, City Council, City Manager Pat Roberts, and other city leaders for their support of the sheriff’s office. Earlier this year, City Council approved historical pay raises for sworn staff members, getting them closer than ever to pay parity with their public safety partners in Norfolk. Additionally, City Council approved $5.7 million capital improvement projects for the Norfolk City Jail which includes replacing the fire alarm system and building a state-of-the-art medical clinic. These Capital Improvement Projects will improve safety for staff and inmates, elevate healthcare for those in their care, and strengthen public trust in the work of the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office.
