The Arlington County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) recently hosted the National Institute of Corrections (NIC) for specialized training on correctional case management. In addition to ACSO staff, corrections professionals from Prince William County, Virginia, and Montgomery County, Maryland, participated in the training.
Training provided by NIC helps ensure staff remain informed about best practices and emerging approaches in correctional case management. These professional development opportunities equip staff with the tools needed to assess individual needs, coordinate services, and support successful reentry.
“Effective case management in a detention facility requires continuous evaluation of an incarcerated individual’s needs, efficient follow-through, and collaboration with other professionals,” said Lashawn Fisher, Inmate Services Supervisor at the Arlington County Detention Facility. The training also provided a valuable opportunity for corrections professionals from different jurisdictions to share experiences, discuss challenges, and exchange ideas that strengthen services for incarcerated individuals and the communities they will ultimately return to.
