Following the tragic loss of Deputy Logan Utt, sheriffs and deputies from across Virginia came together to support the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Utt’s family, and the Carroll County community. Please see the message below from Carroll County Sheriff Kevin Kemp:
On behalf of the entire Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, I want to extend my deepest gratitude and sincere appreciation to the Virginia Sheriffs’ Association and to each Sheriff, Deputy Sheriff, and member of the law enforcement community across the Commonwealth who supported our agency during one of the most difficult times in our history following the tragic loss of Deputy Logan Utt.
The overwhelming response from Sheriffs’ Offices throughout Virginia has been nothing short of extraordinary. Whether through personal phone calls, messages of encouragement, prayers, visits, or the countless acts of kindness shown to our agency and Deputy Utt’s family, your support has provided strength and comfort when it was needed most.
I am especially grateful to the many Sheriffs and Deputies who stepped forward to assist with the daily operations of the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, allowing our personnel the opportunity to grieve, support one another, and stand beside Deputy Utt’s family. Your willingness to serve our community as if it were your own is a testament to the brotherhood and professionalism that define the Office of Sheriff in Virginia.
We are also deeply thankful to those who traveled from across the Commonwealth to assist with funeral services, participate in the law enforcement honors, provide logistical support, and attend the visitation and funeral.
The compassion, professionalism, and unwavering support demonstrated by the Virginia Sheriffs’ Association and our fellow Sheriffs will never be forgotten. Your actions reflected the very best of public service and exemplified the bond shared among Virginia’s Sheriffs and Deputies.
