The Petersburg Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce that Sergeant DeCarla Evans was honored with the Most Outstanding Deputy Sheriff Award presented by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 622 on Friday, May 15, 2026.
Sgt. Evans was recognized for her dedication, professionalism, and outstanding service to the Petersburg community and the Sheriff’s Office. She was joined during the ceremony by family members and fellow Petersburg Sheriff’s Office personnel, including Lieutenant Chris Bailey and Lieutenant Rodney Tucker.
“Sergeant Evans consistently demonstrates professionalism, compassion, and commitment to public service,” said Vanessa R. Crawford. “This recognition is well deserved, and we are proud of the exceptional work she continues to provide to our community and agency.”
