During May in honor of law enforcement week, the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) paid tribute to two fallen officers from the ACSO. Sheriff Edwin Blair Butler, EOW August 12,1922, and Deputy Samuel Brown III, July 8, 1927. Both deputies had proclamations read in their names with family members present. Two roads near where the two were killed will have signs posted honoring the fallen deputies by having memorial highway designations in their names.
In other news, ACSO deputies and civilian employees were presented four hours of wellness training by members of the National Law Enforcement & First Responder Wellness Center.
Additionally, Alleghany County Regional Jail recently converted from self-provided medical care for inmates to a contract with Southern Health Partners.
