Registration is now open for Virginia RULES summer camp. The Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office has partnered with the Attorney General’s Office to bring this exciting opportunity to the youth of Middlesex County. This camp will be hosted by Camp Piankatank.
Virginia RULES is a Virginia state-specific, law-related educational program for middle and high school students, ages 12 to 15 or uprising middle school students. The purpose of Virginia RULES is to educate Virginia’s youth about Virginia laws and help them develop skills needed to make sound decisions, avoid breaking laws, and become active, law abiding citizens in their schools and community.
Four of the seventeen valuable Virginia RULES lessons will be taught during this five day camp. The campers will take a pre-test, have the lesson, and then follow up with a post test the next day. In between the lessons, the campers will join in on some summer fun and learn team building skills.
This camp program will offer canoeing, rock climbing, swimming, and outside games. They will serve breakfast, lunch and a daily snack. The camp will start on Monday, August 22 and run through Friday, August 26. Drop off will be at 8:00 a.m., and pick up will be at 4:00 p.m. each day.

The sheriff’s office is accepting donations of food and drinks. Registration forms and applications will be due by July 15.
