Chesapeake Sheriff Jim O’Sullivan was inducted into the Special Olympics of Virginia Hall of Fame recently following the “Spartan Kickoff 2016” kickball game for Special Olympics of Virginia.

Sheriff Jim O’Sullivan had the opportunity to hold the seat of State Chair for Special Olympics Virginia Torch Run in 2014 and has led the way for the Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office’s involvement in Special Olympics for over 15 years. The Law Enforcement Torch Run, Polar Plunge, Plane Pull, Wawa With The Law and Dancing with the Athletes are just a few of the events that Sheriff O’Sullivan organizes for the Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office to raise awareness and support for Special Olympics Virginia. With support from successful events like these, Special Olympics Virginia can ensure that their athletes have the opportunity to reach their potential as well as their dreams.

The “Spartan Kickoff 2016” was a unique kickball event organized by Norfolk State University, Chesapeake Sheriff Jim O’Sullivan and Norfolk Sheriff Bob Mccabe to benefit Special Olympics Virginia. Members of the Norfolk State University Football Team joined Special Olympics athletes to form teams for a friendly kickball competition. The event was held today, June 23, 2016 at Norfolk State University’s Softball field.
