Hampton deputies strengthen relationships at NAACP’s 45th Annual Life Membership Awards Banquet

Sheriff B. J. Roberts and members of the Hampton Sheriff`s Office staff attended the NAACP’s 45th Annual Life Membership Awards Banquet on October 30 at the Hampton Roads Convention Center.

The organization’s goal is to strengthen relationships through partnerships to address the public’s perceptions of law enforcement. The office is “committed to excellence” and to positively impact members in the community, especially its youngest ones. Deputies had the privilege to meet with 13-year-old Nigel Robertson who aspires to have a career in law enforcement. His interests include designing weapons and science.

Sheriff Roberts also met with Rose Simmons, daughter of the late Rev. Daniel Simmons Sr. who was one of the victims from the June 17 shooting at the historical Emmanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina.
