Greene County sheriff, deputies shop with 105 children for Christmas

One hundred and five children have a better Christmas this year because of the Greene County Sheriff’s Office’s ‘Shop with a Sheriff’ program. Each child received $75 to spend on toys, clothes and other items at a local Walmart. Bikes are always big as are electronics and gifts for other family members. Each deputy was paired with a family and worked with them to find the perfect toy. The event allowed kids to see the deputies in a more relaxed light. The ‘Shop with a Sheriff’ program is funded by year-round donations and by the proceeds from the Greene County Sheriff’s annual Maj. Russell Laine Memorial Golf Tournament. Plans are underway for the May 1 tournament.
