Newport News Sheriff Gabe Morgan is pleased to announce the graduation of two NNSO deputies from the National Criminal Justice Command College.

Major R. Coleman, NNSO’s Chief of Services Bureau, and Lt. D. Velez, NNSO’s Human Resources Officer, hit the books and studied hard during the 10-week course held each year at the Virginia State Police headquarters in Richmond.

That dedication paid off.  They successfully completed the courses and received their certificates in a ceremony on September 21. Several NNSO personnel attended the ceremony: Lt. Col. Vergakis, Major Hughes, Capt. Hubbard, Capt. Vergakis, Capt. Whitfield and Sgt. Scott.

The NCJCC Website says the college provides an integrated, cutting-edge approach to criminal justice education through a framework of leadership and collaboration.

It’s a great opportunity to expand your leadership potential and strengthen your overall skill-set, adds Cindy Orshe, NCJCC’s program director.

It’s great to have Major Coleman and Lt. Velez back at the NNSO.
