On Friday, February 2, 2018, we were honored to have retired United States Army Lieutenant General William “Jerry” Boykin, one of the original founding members of the U.S. Army’s Delta Force, come and speak with our HARP inmates. He gave an inspirational talk as he shared his personal story and life experiences with the inmates. His encouraging words and message of forgiveness, regardless of your transgressions, was impactful. Lieutenant General Boykin plans to return to visit HARP again.
This past Saturday (February 3, 2018), Sheriff Leonard and other members of the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office, team Supercicles, plunged into the Virginia Beach waters for the annual Special Olympics Virginia Beach Polar Plunge. Thank you to all those who donated. A special thank you, to the anonymous donor, that donated over $1,200.00 to Deputy Forrest “Alex” Anderson, who the Supercicles plunged in honor of this year. The Supercicles raised over $6,000.00 for the Polar Plunge. The total money raised this year through the Polar Plunge Virginia Beach, was 1.185 million dollars for Special Olympics Virginia.
