The Roanoke County Sheriff’s Office participated in the annual Tons-of-Fun event this year as we have for many years.  Last year we began to make children identification cards that contain information that is useful in the event of a missing child.  The ID’s contain a picture of the child, address, two emergency contacts, eye/hair color, height, weight, allergies, identifying marks, medications, school attended and blood type.  If requested by the parents, we also fingerprint the child. To date we have had over 750 children that have went through our Identify-a-Kid program.
The equipment, software, and supplies were all purchased with funds from a grant that the Roanoke County Sheriff’s Office applied for in 2016.
