The Staunton Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce the arrival of its first K-9 Deputy, Cara.   Deputy Ryan Insana and Cara are trained and certified in the proper techniques and tactics to safely locate explosives and explosive related materials. Deputy Insana and Cara will be utilized by the Staunton Sheriff’s Office, but will also assist surrounding jurisdictions in times of concern regarding explosive materials. Deputy Insana has experience as a K-9 handler in the United States military where he deployed overseas and worked with several K-9’s in various roles to include explosive detection. Cara is a 1-year old black lab who is eager to work and received exceptionally high marks while training with Deputy Insana in explosive material detection.
